A new era of strategic warfare is on the horizon. Amazon Games today announced a closed Alpha test for March of Giants, a new 4v4 free-to-play war MOBA currently in early development for PC. Players in the United States, Canada, and Mexico can now request access on Steam to participate in the exclusive playtest, which will run from September 2 to September 10, 2025. This test will offer a first look at an ambitious title poised to redefine the genre.
March of Giants is the debut title from Amazon Games Montreal, a studio founded by a team of passionate developers with deep experience in creating innovative and competitive PvP games. The team is led by Creative Director Xavier Marquis and includes several key members from the critically acclaimed Rainbow Six Siege team. With this impressive pedigree, the studio is bringing its extensive experience in genre disruption to the MOBA space.
A MOBA Built for Epic Warfare
Set in a devastated urban battlefield infused with both science and magic, March of Giants plunges players into the final battle of a century-long conflict. As a "war MOBA," the game directly tackles military themes, allowing players to command thousands of soldiers in battle within the strategic framework of a competitive MOBA game.
"March of Giants represents our vision to bring the epic scale of warfare to the MOBA genre," said Xavier Marquis. "We wanted to create something that captures the strategic depth of traditional MOBAs while introducing innovative mechanics that allow players to command massive armies and deploy tactical structures on the battlefield." This fresh approach is what sets the game apart. Players will take on the role of imposing "Giants," each with unique abilities ranging from crowd control to explosive damage. You will also lead thousands of fearless soldiers, guiding their movements to support your team's advance, assault enemy outposts, and apply relentless pressure on the front lines.
The strategic depth is further enhanced by the ability to place powerful fortifications, or "Battleworks," such as trenches, tanks, and bunkers. These tactical structures can turn the tide of a battle, creating the crucial difference between a tactical advantage and a strategic retreat.
How to Join the Alpha
Players interested in participating in the closed Alpha can request access through the official March of Giants Steam page. A Steam account is required to join. This Alpha test will be under a non-disclosure agreement, so participants will be unable to share gameplay footage, screenshots, or details publicly.
